Artwork Guidelines for WoWMugs
A number of graphics designer are unfamiliar with sublimation print, This being the print process we use on both the WoWMug™ and the Photo Mug, it is different from conventional offset litho print. To assist us in providing you with a fast efficient service, it is important your designer follows these guidelines exactly as they are laid out below.

What is Different about the WoWMug™
The WoWMug™ is a ceramic mug with a patented coloured heat sensitive coating. When hot drink is added the coloured coating becomes transparent to reveal a full colour image to the design submitted. This image is printed to within 10mm from the handles and top to base on the mug. We can only accept artwork on the basis that the following guidelines are followed. The technique of sublimation produces stunning clarity and colours on ceramic previously unattainable by other print processes. There is also the additional benefit of far lower one off set up and origination and proofing cost of £100 for a any design between 1 and 4 colour process.

In order to further increase the promotional impact of the WoWMug™ (although the WoWMug™ has high impact without this extra option) we offer a secondary print process, this being a Screen Print onto the coloured surface. This screen print is permanently visible and offers an interactive question or similar: i.e. " Wake up to " - This is always visible when the WoWMug is cold - add hot tea / coffee and your 4 colour image and message will appear which will complete the statement of who you " Wake up to" i.e. a picture of 3 disc jockeys and the letters CITY FM 92.9

Artwork Guidelines for WoWMugs
Proofs:
From your artwork. We prepare a sublimated print proof and it is forward for your approval. Please note that this is generated digitally and is fairly quick. If you decide to include the extra cost of a screen printed outer message then the proofing process will take longer as screens must first be made from the separate artwork specifically for this message.
We will require the following on CD disk:
1. Finished version of the artwork.
2. All scans on high res 300 dpi only
3. PC FORMAT ONLY
File Formats:
TIFF (preferred) or JPEG
300 dpi and highest quality (i.e. do not use compression options to reduce file size)
Print area:
213 x 91mm. (8.386" x 3.583")
2515 x 1075 pixels
Supply a print out:
From a low-cost colour printer, label with PMS references for all corporate colours or other critical colour matches.
Bleed Area:
Do not add bleed. Keep live matter (eg text) 5mm away from top and bottom of the mug and 5mm away from left and right edges.
Available coating colours:
Designs printed on a black or royal blue PMS 294. Others colours available by special request.
Useful recommendations for WoWMugs™
Black creates the greatest "surprise" effect and only about 10% of the printed image that will reveal when hot, can be seen when the mug is cold. The Blue mug however allows about 20% of the image to be seen when cold- many customers like this as the effect is teasing the recipient as to what else will show as well as keeping the mug "alive" even when cold.
The print costs are the same for 1, 2, 3 or 4 colour process- take advantage of creating a colourful design all over the mug. Note- if you do not take advantage of colour and leave to much white in your artwork this can appears grey when the mug is cold as it lays under the black coating.
Scans:
Low-resolution scans produce poor print. 300 dpi minimum for best results. Ensure scans have no colour cast. The print process will exaggerate the slightest contamination.
